Luella M. Krehbiel Adjunct Teaching Excellence Award

The Luella M. Krehbiel Adjunct Teaching Excellence Award recognizes teaching excellence by 91老司机 adjunct (part-time) faculty.

Recipients receive a $2,500 monetary award (minus applicable taxes).

The Faculty Awards Committee reviews nominations and applications.

The nomination deadline is Nov. 1.

  • Any adjunct faculty who has taught at 91老司机 for at least six (6) semesters (including summer sessions)
  • Has not received the award in the last five (5) years is eligible.

Nominations must be received by Nov. 1.

Select the Krehbiel Adjunct Teaching Award on the nomination form and provide the required information.

Deans, full-time faculty, and adjunct faculty can submit nominations for the Luella M. Krehbiel Adjunct Teaching Excellence Award.

  • Nominees will be notified of their nomination and accept or decline
  • Nominees will be observed teaching in the classroom or online
  • Teaching evaluations (student, peer, and chair)

To be selected, the nominee must meet or exceed the following criteria in the classroom:

  • Nominee must be academically and professionally in good standing and have not received any formal disciplinary action within 12 months of their nomination date. 
  • Fully and actively engage their students in the process of learning.
  • Demonstrates attention to active learning, writing, and critical thinking skills.
  • Conducts classroom assessment
  • Uses multiple teaching resources as appropriate.
  • Clearly outlines the learning objective of each class.
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm for the subject matter/class
  • Uses their class time effectively.
  • Matches instruction techniques to student learning needs and interests
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the subject matter
  • Displays active interaction with students -- addresses student questions in a courteous, fair, respectful, and timely manner
  • Assesses students in a timely and appropriate manner
