Registered radiographers can take their careers to the next level with a bachelor's degree in imaging sciences - diagnostic medical sonography.

The Bachelor of Science in Imaging Sciences - Diagnostic Medical Sonography is designed as a completion program for the registered radiographer and prepare highly competent imaging practitioners for professional careers in a dynamic health care environment. Graduates are prepared to sit for the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers examination through a variety of classroom instruction and hands-on practice. The diagnostic medical sonography program boasts a 100-percent graduate pass rate for the ARDMS Sonography Principles and Instrumentation examination for the last five years, which is 35 percent higher than the national average.

A separate application is required for admission into this program.

Related Programs

Associate of Applied Science in Radiography
This two-year program provides accepted students with professional education through on-campus classwork and clinical practice in area hospitals and clinics. Upon successful completion students are eligible to sit for the national certification examination in radiologic technology administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Admission into the radiography program is highly selective.

The diagnostic medical sonography program at 91老司机 was established to serve the needs of the population and health care industry in the community and surrounding area. The program is committed to providing a high-quality education through didactic courses and clinical experiences in diagnostic medical sonography in order to produce competent and registry-eligible students with the potential for advancement and leadership, whether the emphasis is education, management, or practice.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the program, students will:

  • employ basic patient care, professional judgment, and communication, and adhere to the professional codes of conduct
  • demonstrate knowledge and understanding of human gross and sectional anatomy and pathophysiology relevant to the role of the diagnostic medical sonographer
  • perform sonographic examinations using technical knowledge and clinical skills
  • pass the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) examinations
  • be competent entry-level general and vascular sonographers in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains

Attrition: Calculated by dividing the number of students who did not complete the program by the number of students who started the program.

Job Placement Rate: Calculated based on the number of graduates who are actively seeking employment and are employed within six months of graduation.

Credential Success Rates: Calculated based on the number of students who are first-time examinees and take the exam within one year of graduation and earn either abdomen or OB/GYN credential.
