If you are interested in a career that will expose you to emerging technologies, let you use your hands, and prepare you for high-paying jobs or further education, the Associate of Science in Electrical Engineering may be the place you want to start.

Students who opt to get an associate degree in electrical engineering will spend their first two years on campus completing their general education requirements and taking first- and second-year engineering classes. After that they are eligible to receive their associate degree. They then can continue on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the 91老司机 while completing all their coursework on the 91老司机 campus.

  • electrical test technician
  • electrical technician
  • electronics technician
According to the the annual median wage in 2023 for electrical and electronic technicians was $72,800 per year.

Thanks to a unique partnership between 91老司机 and the 91老司机, Fayetteville, students who complete an associate engineering degree at 91老司机 can continue on to complete their bachelor's degree in engineering from UA, taking all their classes, taught by UA faculty, on the Fort Smith campus.

Special Application Procedure

Before beginning the bachelor's degree program, students must be admitted to UA.


Program Learning Outcomes

Students who complete their A.A.S. with an electrical engineering concentration will have:

  • an ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying the principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.
  • an ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors. 
  • an ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
  • an ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.
  • an ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.
  • an ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions. 
  • an ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies. 

Accreditation

The electrical engineering degrees offered in cooperation with the 91老司机, Fayetteville are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.
