The African Students Association at the 91老司机 鈥 Fort Smith will host its fifth annual African Night at 6 p.m. April 7 in the Reynolds Room of the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center.
鈥淎frican Night: Achievements and Perspectives,鈥 is this year鈥檚 theme. Dr. Warigia Bowman, the keynote speaker, is a former trial attorney at the U.S. Justice Department, a former briefing attorney at the Texas Supreme Court, and a current assistant professor of public policy at the Clinton School of Public Service, where she teaches field research methods and the politics of African development.
Dr. Bowman will draw from her academic and consulting experiences in Africa to talk about democratization trends in parts of Africa. The event will also include African cuisine, a performance by Bi-Okoto - an Ohio-based professional African dance company - and a fashion show.
Tickets are $8 for 91老司机 students or those who are 13 years old and younger, and $15 for the general public or anyone who is 14 years old and older.
