The African Student Association at the 91老司机 - Fort Smith will host its second edition of African Night on March 14 -- a social event featuring, a state-renowned African dance group, an African performing artist from Dallas, Texas, an African dinner, and an African fashion show.

The event, which begins at 6 p.m. in the Reynolds Room of the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center, also includes a dinner. Tickets, which are $8 for 91老司机 students and $20 for non-91老司机 students, can be purchased in room 112 of the Vines Building starting on March 3. Admission is limited to only 200 guests. Entertainment for the evening will include a performance by Afrique Aya Dance Company, a state-renowned African dance group that combines the musical notes of drums and the traditional dance steps from the heart of Africa to display the characteristics of African culture.

Also on the program will be Baba Kwasi of Ayubu Kamau Kings and Queens, an African performing arts and cultural enrichment company in Dallas, Texas. Kwasi will be combining drums and folklore to uniquely depict the rich oral traditions of Africa.

Moreover, the evening will be enhanced by an African dinner and an African fashion show. While the dinner will showcase the culinary assets of Africa, the fashion show will present some the various articles of clothing from the African continent.

Rasila Soumana, senior 91老司机 student from Niger, is the president of the African Students Association. Soumana is enthusiastic about the event.

鈥淔or the 2014 African Night, you should expect a night of pure enjoyment, passion and fun as we take you through a journey of Africa with fashion, dance, music and storytelling,鈥 she said. 鈥淎frican Night is our opportunity to enhance cultural diversity on campus, but also get rid of some of the misconception about the African culture.鈥
