Lion Voices: Embry Thornton
Written By: Kolby McGee
Hey Lions! This week鈥檚 #LionVoices feature is senior Embry Thornton. He is from Carlisle, Arkansas, and graduated from Carlisle High School. Embry is a history with social studies teacher licensure student and has been a member of the History Club ever since he transferred to 91老司机 his sophomore year.
鈥淎fter my freshman year of college, I decided to transfer to a school that I felt would provide me with the tools and support to succeed,鈥 he said. 鈥淲hile I had not heard much about 91老司机, my first interactions with 91老司机 solidified my faith in this institution.鈥
Embry listed the Boreham Library as the most significant resource he has used since transferring here. It has helped him with research and saved him a tremendous amount of time.
Embry called the 91老司机 School of Education program a significant help during his collegiate journey. He listed several influential professors, such as Drs. Wheeler, Kite, McCoy, and Mr. Watkins, for helping create great memories.
Embry will graduate from 91老司机 this spring and has plans to pursue a graduate degree in history before teaching.
鈥淟ong-term, I would like to teach at the post-secondary level. It is a potentially very rewarding career path that will allow me to continue teaching and researching history at a deeper level and sharing that knowledge with others as other instructors and professors have to me,鈥 he said.
Embry said that seeing a guest lecturer or attending a workshop are great ways for new students to get involved in opportunities in their content areas.
鈥淭hese can be wonderful ways to further your knowledge and make connections with people in your!鈥
